Wednesday Anti-Bullying Day

Dear parents,
Students are encouraged to wear pink tomorrow to stand up against bullies and bullying.
We will continue to review "Have You Filled A Bucket Today" with our students and talk about strategies to stand up against bullying.

Progress Reports Go Home

Important information for this week:

- Progress Report cards go home today (Monday Nov. 17).

- Interviews: If you would like to make an appointment to meet with me to discuss the progress report please contact the school, 519-966-3890 to schedule an interview.
*Please note that interviews are only 10 minutes in length from 3:00pm to 5:50 pm on the evening of Thursday, November 20, 2014. 

- School Book Fair: Thursday November 20-Tuesday November 25 If you would like your child to purchase a book or item from the book fair please write the name of the book on a piece of paper and put the paper and the money in a ziplock bag inside their sac en plastique. We will ONLY take the students who have the above to the book fair.

- Harvest Fresh orders are due Thursday November 20th

- Outdoor play: Please make sure that your child is dressed for the weather and coming to school with their outdoor clothing on as we begin our day outdoors. There is no teacher in the classroom in the morning to get students dressed as we are all outdoors doing supervision.

So much going on in Kindergarten

 
We have been so busy the past two weeks in Kindergarten. I am finally finding some time to add to our blog.

Some parent information:

- We didn't win the pizza party for the cereal box challenge, but we did make 3rd place and our class alone was able to donate about 22 000 grams of cereal to children in need. I am so grateful for your generosity and am so proud of our students! BRAVO et Merci les amis!

- Scholastic book orders are going home today and are due back Friday Nov. 14

- Any parents who would like to make play dough for our class please let me know by Monday Nov. 10. I will be sending home a few simple recipes and dates to when you can send play dough for the class.

- If you are interested in volunteering in our room for any reason please write a note in your child's communication book and we will set a date that works for all of us. *You do not need to speak French.

Cold Weather Notice:
- With the weather becoming colder, we would like to remind parents that the children start their day outdoors and have a second outdoor play time in the early afternoon. Please make sure your child has warm clothes, hats, mitts and proper outdoor footwear.

- If you would like to change up the extra clothes sent at the beginning of the year please send a warmer pair of clothes in a ziplock bag labeled with your child's name and I will return the pair we have at school.


Have You Filled a Bucket Today: A Guide to Daily Happiness for Kids by Carol McCloud

This is a great book that helps remind our students how their words and actions affect others. The book explains that everyone walks around with an imaginary bucket. When we do or say kind things to others we fill their buckets with good feelings. People with full buckets are happy and feel good inside. However when we say or do mean things to others we dip into their buckets and they feel sad and lonely.

In our classroom we are working at being bucket fillers. When we as a whole group fill our classroom bucket we will have a very special surprise for the whole class to reward them for being kind people.

All of the pumpkins and gourds, regardless of their size float. The students were very surprised that the very large pumpkin floated.

Making their own predictions about objects that they think will float or sink. Then they were able to test their hypotheses at the water table.
